Episode #7 "Daughter of the Steppes"
Ealdræd must not tary in the Grand Duchy of Bhel and makes his escape through the marshlands of the Marécage, across northern Eildres, and into the vast empty plains of the Torvig Steppes where dwell the many barbaric and nomadic tribes of the Khevnic peoples. Happening upon a caravan of the Czechu folk under the despotic rule of the vainglorious Borislav Vsevolod, the Aenglian is welcomed as a much-prized foreign mercenary soldier. But for Eiji of the Kajhin, a Menghis woman enslaved by the brutal Khevnics, life in the caravan is an unspeakable ordeal of incessant pain and degradation.
When Ealdræd again finds himself beset by the ill-luck of gratuitous adversity, his impulsive decision to steal the Menghis rape-slave from the Czechu may have consequences that the sagacious veteran has not yet forseen.
